Trócaire made a decision to focus its efforts in the north and north eastern regions of the country.

In January 2018, Maarifa Consult was contracted by Trocaire International  to guide and lead a program closure for Governance and Human Rights (GHR) Programme which was implemented by Trocaire Uganda. Trócaire, is the official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland. Trócaire’s work on Governance & Human Rights seeks to challenge the social, economic and political structures that exacerbate injustice and exclude people. Empowering vulnerable and marginalized people to demand greater accountability from their government is a key approach to programming.

Since early 2005 Trócaire has been working in Uganda supporting a wide spectrum of local organizations – both NGOs and church social agencies in various parts of the country. With the adoption of the programme approach in 2007, Trócaire made a decision to focus its efforts in the north and north eastern regions of the country. Trócaire’s 5-year programme on Governance and Human Rights (GHR) works with 10 partners who implement projects to achieve the (GHR) programme goal. Partners developed a five-year project proposal documents and but the programme was cut short due to a change in the strategic direction of the organization and the project was implemented for three years.

Maarifa Consult through the lead consultant (Mr.Waalabyeki Saturo) successfully managed to conduct annual programme review, learning workshop, Financial accountabilities and final evaluation of the programme.
