In 2017, November Africa Union Commission (UAC) contracted Maarifa Consult to conduct a training on Project Planning and Development in Addis Ababa to its senior and middle level managers and departmental heads. The major aim of the training was to help participants to learn about Project Planning and Development. Specifically, the training was expected to achieve the following objectives.

  • To enable participants, understand some best practice techniques for management and effective implementation of projects.
  • To enable participants, understand the PPM approach and how to use it to design and implement projects
  • To introduce participants to new Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) methodologies, and explore their usefulness to work.
  • To facilitate participants’ learning on how to build a logical framework; linking the different stages and putting all the main elements into a simple plan.
  • To ensure that after the training, there is candid applicability and integration of PPM concepts in the work of African Union.

The workshop will comprise a series of well-researched presentations; extensive hands-on practical group discussions and experience-sharing by participants. Competent, professional and seasoned trainers will share experiences and demonstrations – challenges, opportunities and success/real-life stories based on their vast exposure in this field. The training method will also embody the use of brainstorming, videos, lectures, group work, ice breakers, as well as integrate factual field case studies and experience-sharing by participants.
